ummm what?

So I start this blog about Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy and after yesterdays hematologist appointment I am afraid it might be to much of a risk to go through with surgery. I have to talk with the surgeon and weigh my risks of being obese against the risks of having a blood clot after surgery. I am feeling a little down right now....looking at the possibility of having to lose all this weight on my own...how can I begin to do that. True I have lost 42 pounds this month but can I do that every month? I just wish I knew what was going on...and notdo all the pre-op stuff if I am not going to be able to have surgery anyway. AHHH!!! aggravated

  1. Jenn. Listen. If you have lost 42 lbs in a month, that is AMAZING! Think about it, that's the weight of a kindergartener, and you LOST the weight in a MONTH. You can absolutely do anything you put your mind to, you have already proven that. I have no idea how much more weight you have to lose, but just by judging by that, it sounds to me, you can do this on your own. You Can Do This. You CAN do this. YOU can do this. You can DO THIS. I know it. Don't put all your eggs in one basket; if for whatever reasons your doctors advise against surgery, so what? That is not your only result. You just have to not give yourself a choice: Get Healthy.

  2. I just discovered your blog and want to encourage you to keep going whether or not you have surgery. You've already accomplished so much, don't let not having surgery get you down. I know 2 people who did surgery and have had problems ever since. You have already proved that you can lose weight and go for walks - you are doing more and more it sounds like. Keep going! Don't give up! You are doing great! Subscribe to FlyLady if you don't already : )

  3. 42 pounds in a month? Holy shitballs! That's awesome. I'm sorry that you are thinking that the gastric sleeve is not for you. Have you consider other forms of weight loss surgery, such as bypass or gastric banding? Well, whatever you are doing diet-wise, keep doing it because it is working for you!!! Don't be discouraged. While the fact that you won't get off the blood thinners is disappointing, you never know what the future will bring. Plus, if you loose your extra weight, think of how much more healthy you'll be, how much more active you can be, how much more you'll get out of life. It's worth it, trust me. It [a thinner body] is everything you dream it is, and then some, and not even for all the superficial reasons like "I want to feel pretty" (although that's part of it, too).

  4. While WLS is an excellent tool, you still have to put in work. Instead of building the new you with a nail gun, you get to use a hammer. You can do it.
